I use a bandsaw to rough out my designs on basswood blocks. Then I shape the carvings using a variety of handheld power carving tools ranging from large, aggressive bits to very tiny bits. Hand sanding completes the carvings. Sometimes I add acrylic paint and varnish or simply varnish the final product.

Some are realistic carvings and others are fanciful characters.
